Warwick CareWell Staff

On Friday, December 7, 2012, we marked the opening of the CareWell Urgent Care Center in Warwick with a dedication ceremony and open house. We welcomed about 25 area residents who toured our facilities, met our staff, and learned more about how urgent care can be a cost-effective, convenient alternative to the emergency room when you are facing a non-life threatening medical need such as a broken bone, a wound requiring stitches, an allergy or asthma attack, or even a flu shot or physical.

Rhode Island Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Roberts addressed the crowd gathered for the dedication ceremony. Access to health care is a signature issue of Roberts’ and she talked about the need for options when it comes to seeking care. Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian also spoke at the ceremony. Recalling the groundbreaking work of health care providers like Wilcox Health Center, which dramatically expanded access to health care for Warwick area residents, Avedisian welcomed CareWell Urgent Care to the area saying it would improve the overall health of the community.

Steve Kitchin of the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce noted that the new center had already created 10 new jobs in Warwick and said that the area needed “more small businesses like this one” to help strengthen the economy and area residents’ health.

The Rev. Ellen Quaadgras of Westminster Unitarian Church offered an ecumenical blessing and music was provided by Jonathan Martin and Joyce Kutty.

You do not need a referral from your doctor or health insurer and your out-of-pockets costs will be about the same as those for a regular doctor’s office visit.

Until next week, Stay Well!
